What We Do At Hard Material Technology?

Hard materials is awesome because we get to make a Pewter Casting.

On Wednesday we watched Mr Grundy show us the way to make pewter casting.

He made something like this.

First Mr Grundy looked for a picture online then printed it.Then he drew the picture on to the wood.This is a Kiwi drawing.

Next he had to cut it out with a machine.

Then he put two pieces of wood side by side and put a rubber band around it.

Next he had to melt the pewter.

Then he poured the pewter into the the wood.

After that he had to wait till it dried up and then took it out.

Now he will cut some bits up and make it smooth.

After that he will have to sandpaper it to make it smooth and shiny.

Now he will do the finishing top and make it as shiny as possible.

I am going to make a shield.
