Going to Tamaki College Sports Day

golden flathead.PNG
On Friday the future year nine students of Tamaki College had a wonderful and splendid time!

After a quick ride on the Tamaki College van to Tamaki we hopped off and headed to the auditorium. There we received our team colours and were seated. There were P.E. teachers in front of us and a small stage. Everyone had been organised into teams and took off.

The first thing we did was a teamwork game. We had blindfolds on and had to use different noises to find each other.

Our next thing was morning tea and we had a drink, muffin and a apple. Straight after that was the REC center where we played octopus and a challenging boat game. Our next team was on the prickly grass that hurt me and was also in the red hot sun. On the big field we played three games, two including teamwork. When we finished it was lunch time which was a sandwich, chips, water bottle and a chewy watch.

To finish the day off we had a NFL game (no tackling just tagging) , and a really fun and tiring tug of war. Tug of war was arranged so that team colors could verse each other. We then heard a speech and I won a prize!

Poems

So last week we watched kids say poems. Three finalists from each class stood up and recited their poems or a poem from the internet. Two from our class had a poem to share because one was away. They were all great and exiting to hear. After a lot of waiting Room 12 had  their turn to recite their poems!

Our Maths Test

Space_exploration.pngLast Week Room twelve had to struggle our way through a maths test. People were stressed, ambitious and determined while trying hard to accomplish their test.

We walked through the white door that leads to the classroom and Mrs Golder whispered “SSR time.” We walked quietly to our dark blue desk and studied. A few minutes later the staff room duties students came back from their jobs. “Time's up” shouted Mrs Golder. Once we raised our heads from our thick books and the first thing we saw was the numbers one, two, three, four, five, ten, fifteen, and so on up to forty minutes. I assumed that it was something to do with our test. A person walked around handing out our test booklets and our answer sheets faced down. Most of the children were nervous. Mrs Golder slowly said, “Turn over your books now.” She read the instructions and done an example with us.

“Ready START!” Mrs Golder said.

Number two Pencils were writing, white rubbers were erasing, smart brains were thinking and intelligent children were testing. The number  Forty minutes was crossed off and only thirty five to go. After a tiring and extremely long time we heard the word STOP! Finally it was over. There were really hard questions. Number two pencils were broken and blunt.

AMF Bowling Night

Saturday night, pins falling and shooting hoops. Playing games at AMF bowling and having so much fun.

“Let's go to play some games”  my uncle suggested. My uncle is  Sam and he's tall, robust, he wore  brown Timberland, white normal sized jeans and a blue shirt with some white stripes going both horizontal and vertical ways with long sleeves. He’s kind, has light brown eyes with black, short and straight hair.He was a rugby player.

One of my cousins is George and he is nine years old, with straight short black hair, he has brown eyes. He wore blue jeans, a white shirt and a black jumper. He also wore blue and black vans as well. He loves to do art and to make new things.

Have you ever been to Panmure AMF Bowling because it’s so amazing! It is a medium sized building with giant two D pins nailed into the wall to look like they were falling. The logo is there as well, It is blue and red with and black writing. The warm breeze was blowing and hitting our faces softly as the sun was shining in our faces.

We walked past the carpark and into the AMF bowling building. “Wow, this place is cool friend” Cyer said excitedly. He's my other cousin and he has black short curly hair and brown eyes. He had a red t-shirt, black pants and had blue shoes. He is five years old, loves cars and is always racing us. He is cheeky but calls us friends.

We discovered some interesting things such as a bowling ball in half and even a bowling pin in half. The were a lot of games and different coloured lights.
So we went off and started the fun!

I was so happy and couldn’t wait to try out the games. I ran around looking for the perfect game. First my uncle received some tokens to play games. He grabbed 16 tokens so we dived it and all had five tokens each and one to test a game. Then we lost somebody, it was my cousin. “ Lets go find him” I shouted. All of us went off to find him and it turned out he was just in the toilet. Now that we found him it was time to play some awesome games.

First was Dragon Punch and my score was 8,000+. Then I played NBA hoops while my cousins played Superbike (twin). After that they played KO Drive twin as I played some Skeeball. Then in the corner of my eye I spotted something beautiful, It was an air hockey. We played a few times and George and I won. We all had fun playing Sonic sports air hockey 4player. Ding Ding was the sound it made every time we shot the put in.

The best part of all was when we found a broken NBA hoop where you didn’t need tokens but still got tickets, We played and played until we were exhausted. We counted all our tickets and I had four hundred tickets while my cousin got two hundred and the other received one hundred. We were awarded our prizes and left in our royal blue coloured van. I felt excited and exhausted at the end.

After tickets and tickets and my personal favourite shooting hoops it was time to go home and get some rest.

Definitely Different

Everyone has a personal identity to make themselves who they are. This is what makes them different.

People think that if they're different then they won't fit in and think it would be better if we were all the same. Well everyone is different and plus if we were all the same everything would be boring. Your friends wouldn't be fun, relationships wouldn't either.  Would you really want that to happen? I think not.

What Makes You Who You Are?
The things that make you you are the people that you hang out with, things you do and if you listen in school or not. All these things can affect you in your future. For example if you hang out with bad influences then you might turn out to be a criminal. Plus if you listen in school you just might turn out to be a smart person.

Traditions, culture and religions are all important to your identity. Like all the foods you eat might be it Samoan food or maybe even scrumptious Tongan food. Ummmmmm I love Tongan food. Your culture is important because it makes up part of your identity.

Here's a good example of how identity works.
I always go to my cousin's home in the weekend and they love basketball. They have a basketball hoop, two basketballs and their role modeling and inspiration affect my love for the sport. I like playing basketball now because of them. See the people you hang out with do affect your life.

You see, personal identity is a very important part to your life and without it you would be a nobody. So go ahead and be different, who cares what other people think about your looks and the things you do just be you!

My favourite basketball player is Stephen Curry because he is one of the splash bros and he can shoot from very far away.

My second favourite player is Klay Thompson because is is also one of the splash bros.

My third favourite basketball player is Lebron James because he is sooo amazing.

Personal Hygiene

Personal hygiene means to keep yourself clean by showering, washing your hair at the right times, cleaning and cutting your nails, brushing your teeth twice a day, cleaning your clothes and much more.

If you don’t wash your hands or clean and cut your nails when you eat then you could end up being sick because your hands have bacteria.  If you don’t brush your teeth then this can cause heart diseases. If you wash your hair too much with shampoo then you will get dandruff.

Brushing your teeth!
It’s very important to brush your teeth twice a day. If you don’t then there are consequences. If you brush your teeth twice a day then your teeth would be white, you would have a better smile, you’re breath would smell fresh and you would feel better as well.

Well if you don’t brush your teeth then it could get serious because you could have a smelly breath, yellow and black teeth,  heart disease and a bad smile. Some people also say that black coffee without milk or sugar stops your teeth from rotting. Is that true you ask?… Well yes it is true but I don’t know how.

Washing your hands
It’s bad to not wash your hands because all the things you’ve touched could have germs on it so when you have breakfast, lunch and dinner  the germs go on the food that you eat which can lead to sickness. To avoid getting dirty hands wash your hands before you eat your food, after you go to the toilet and after you play outside.

Taking a shower
Taking a shower is very important because if you don’t then you’ll be really stinky and have bad odour. Your skin and hair would get dirty and your chance of infections goes up, you’ll probably itch even more because there could be nits and lice living in your hair and skull.

Madd Messenger Comes Back

On Friday the thirty first of July the Madd Messenger came to visit us. He said that it was about U Turn,  He told us about making good choices. He said to us that the choices we make can affect the future like the friends you hang out with and whether you listen or not. He drew Wonderwoman and Batman. It was sooo cool, he also made most of us think about our choices.

Whoops Our Brand New Car!

Have you ever been so embarrassed that you wished that an airplane would come out of the sky and crash you.

It all started in two thousand and six my dad brought a new car and picked me up from kindergarten. I was just walking and there it was… a brand new car. I ran to the car were my dad was sitting. He excitedly said “Get in, it’s our new car.” I jumped in and put my seat belt on.

I was all ready to go, vroom vroom the car went. We went on the road and it was fun. When we arrived home my dad got off. He told me to come but I was so excited that I wanted to stay in there. I told my dad that I really wanted to stay in there. He said “Okay”.

When I stayed in there I checked everything out. “This car is awesome” I said. But then something came to my mind. I remembered something, I remembered my dad pulling a kind of lever with a button on the tip of it. I pulled it and you’ll never guess what happened. The car rolled diagonally across the street. The car had crashed into a concrete block wall that was painted in white. A man was walking and saw me in the car. He saw me crying and picked me up.
He asked me “Where do you live?”
I said “Across the road.” He carried me there and told my dad what happened.

After all that you probably thought my dad would be angry but he was very happy to know that I was okay.

The Madd Messenger

Did you know that you are unique and perfect just the way you are? Well if you didn’t  you should. I learnt this from Petia Wilson the man who came to our school to present a Madd Messenger message. He told us that we need to get rid of all our negative thoughts and think about your positive ones.
He likes superheroes because you can become one and make the world a better place. He is also very good at acting. We got in a circle and two volunteers went inside it but one at a time. We went in a circle saying positive comments about them.
